Penelope Cruz to work with Sergio Castellito again

According to Screen International, Oscar winning actress Penelope Cruz is set to work with actor-director Sergio Castellito once again in a film adaptation of the Italian bestselling war story entitled “Venuto Al Mondo’ by Margaret Mazzantini.

Cruz last worked with Castellito in the 2004 drama “Don’t Move’ which did good business in Italy with over $10 million, but received a cold release in the states, making under $400,000 at the B.O.

Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz donate for Haiti relief

Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Gerard Butler, Daniel Craig and Sean Penn have donated 250,000 dollars each to Haiti earthquake victims.

The celebrities made the donations at a fund-raiser hosted by director Paul Haggis.

They promised to contribute 50,000 dollars a year for five years to Artists for Peace & Justice’s Haiti relief fund.

Haggis raised a total of 4.5 million dollars after inviting the stars over for brunch at his LA home, reports the New York Post.

The charity founded by Haggis will provide emergency relief and medical to the destitute in the Caribbean state.

Penelope Cruz locked herself before singing debut

Penelope Cruz has revealed she was so paranoid about protecting her voice before her musical debut in “Nine” that she became a recluse.

The Spanish actress felt the pressure of recording her vocals at London’s Abbey Road Studios and decided to lock herself away in her hotel room and speak to no one as she prepared to hit the high notes, reports buzzhollywood.com.

“I thought it would be more responsible and professional if I didn’t talk to anybody before I had to record. So I was laying on my bed like Dracula, looking at the ceiling and waiting to go to the studio,” she said.

“I got so tense from trying to protect myself too much… The second day I was much more relaxed,” she added.

Penelope Cruz doesn’t believe in the concept of marriage

Penelope Cruz may never exchange wedding vows with beau Javier Bardem, for the actress has hinted that she doesn’t believe in the concept of marriage.

The beauty also says that she has plans to start a family one day, but hints it could be at the expense of her acting career.

“I want to have babies one day but not right now. When I do it I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life,” Contactmusic quoted Cruz as saying.

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz is the best dressed celebrity of the year, while Cuban singer Niurka Marcos has earned the dubious title of worst attired, according to a poll by a Spanish magazine.

People en Español magazine said in its report that the Bandidas actress had "always made the grade". To substantiate the report, the magazine published photos of the 34-year-old actress wearing gowns by designers such as Ralph Lauren, John Galliano, Valentino and Oscar de la Renta at different events.

Ranking just behind Penelope was actress Charlize Theron, followed by Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, American actress Eva Longoria and Cuban American Lili Estefan.

Rounding out the list of the 10 best dressed celebrities were Katie Holmes, Colombian model and actress Sofia Vergara, Mexican actress and singer Lucero, Candela Ferrero and Cuban-American model and actress Daisy Fuentes, who, according to the magazine, "was the readers' favourite with 82 per cent of the votes".

Cuban singer, dancer and model Niurka Marcos, known for her outrageous attire and hairstyles was chosen as the worst-dressed celebrity with 86 per cent of the popular vote.

Maribel Guardia, Britney Spears, Maria Celeste Arraras, Paris Hilton, Alejandra Guzman, Aline Barrios and Janet Jackson also made to the worst-dressed list.

Among male celebrities, soccer star David Beckham was named best dressed, followed by Spanish actor Javier Bardem, George Clooney and Mexican Mauricio Islas.

Penelope wants to get older, howzat!

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz is looking forward to getting older, and she won’t entertain discussions over whether her looks pose a career problem.
Cruz, 33, appeared today at the Berlin film festival to promote fellow Spaniard Isabel Coixet’s Elegy, in which Cruz stars as Consuela — a student who embarks on an affair with a much older professor, played by Ben Kingsley, 64.
Asked at a news conference whether she thought about aging herself, Cruz replied: “I’m looking forward to (it)... I want to experience things; I’m looking forward to having backaches and using that in my work.”
Cruz swatted aside a query about whether she felt her looks made it harder for her to be taken seriously, saying she had “plenty of offers for roles that have nothing to do with any of that.”
“I think you also have to be pretty egocentric to think that you have that problem,” added Cruz, who was nominated for a best-actress Oscar for her role in Pedro Almodovar’s Volver last year. “I don’t engage in that debate because I am allergic to it.”
