Priyanka dazzles Toronto at ‘What’s Your Rashee’ premiere

Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra dazzled the Toronto audience as Ashutosh Gowariker's "What's Your Rashee?" brought the curtains down on the last day of the 34th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) here.

Gowariker, Priyanka and actor Hurman Baweja were given the ceremonial red carpet reception at the city's Roy Thomson Hall where the film premiered Saturday. And festival co-director Cameron Bailey was on hand to welcome the trio.

Unlike 2001, Gowariker said, Saturday was a special day for him as it was the first time his film was being premiered at one of the world's top film festivals.

Waving to the crowd in the theatre hall, Priyanka said she was thrilled to be at the Toronto film festival for the first time. She asked the audiences to be forgiving as it was her first film premiere at a major international festival.

In the packed hall, the audience enjoyed every moment as the over three-hour-long film unfolded on the big screen. Shortlisting 165 girls who respond to their matrimonial ad to just 12 - each of one sun sign - Yogesh and his family start meeting each girl, starting with the Aries sun sign.

Twelve songs - one for each sun sign - keep the plot afloat as Priyanka changes chameleon-like from the role of one girl to the other.

"What's Your Rashee?" was the second Bollywood film to be premiered this year at the festival after "Dil Bole Hadippa", which stars Rani Mukerji and Shahid Kapoor.

But many other India-specific films were also screened at the film festival this year.

Only Bollywood boys are Priyanka's rival

Priyanka Chopra, who is basking in the success of ‘Fashion’ and ‘Dostana’, has announced that she only considers the Bollywood boys as a competition and not anyone else.

According to Priyanka, “Fashion has broken the myth that heroine-centric films don’t work.”

The actress is riding high on her newly found success and is considering herself much above her female contemporaries. When asked why a lot of attention shifted from her Dostana gold swimsuit to co-actor John Abraham’s butt, the actress exclaimed “I’m so glad that it did. There’s no woman left to compete with... so now I’m competing with the boys.”

Priyanka Chopra in 12 different characters of her forthcoming film

She is all set to compete with Kamal Haasan who played ten different characters in Dashavataram . But our Priyanka Chopra has gone ahead of Haasan and will be seen donning 12 different characters in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s forthcoming film What’s Your Raashi .

Reportedly, his film is based on a novel called Kimball Ravenswood by Madhu Rye. It can be recalled that the famous tele-serial Mr Yogi was loosely based on the same novel. Apparently, in the serial the main protagonist Mr Yogi meets 12 different girls for marriage.

But Ashutosh’s romantic comedy has a twist to it. Harman, the male lead, meets these 12 different girls and all these characters are played by Priyanka Chopra. Now the look of all her characters is the suspense.

Actresses have played double roles in films, but with this film, Priyanka will be the first actress to play more than a double role. Priyanka has always maintained that experimenting leaves her on a high and What’s Your Raashi seems ‘the film’ for her.
