Pitt, Jolie opt out of Golden Globe Awards

Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have opted out of attending the upcoming Golden Globes Awards ceremony apparently because the superstar failed to receive a nomination for his role in “Inglourious Basterds”.

Pitt stars as an American soldier in the World War II drama, which is up for a string of awards at the bash including Best Picture and Best Director for Quentin Tarantino but the actor has not been nominated for his role in the film, reports contactmusic.com

“They’re not going because he’s not nominated individually. ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is, but not him,” said Jolie’s stylist Jen Rade.

According to reports, she now has plans to adopt yet another child from Syria.

OK! Magazine says that the beauty, who has adopted four children already and has two kids with her partner Brad Pitt has left for the Middle East to adopt a girl from Syria.

But her heartthrob partner Pitt is not very keen with this idea of Jolie.

According to sources, “He has made it clear that six children are more than he can handle. The idea of one more seemed ludicrous”

But Angelina is determined to carry out her wishes.

Angelina Jolie meet Iraqi refugees in Syria

Angelina Jolie visited Syria in her role as the goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN’s refugee agency, reports People magazine.

A UNHCR statement quoted the Tomb Raider actress as saying: "Most Iraqi refugees cannot return to Iraq in view of the severe trauma they experienced there, the uncertainty linked to the coming Iraqi elections, the security issues and the lack of basic services. They will, therefore, be in need of continued support from the international community.

The 34-year-old Jolie had also met refugees in Iraq two months ago and visited Somali refugees in Africa recently.

Producer Dan Lin announced that Jolie would not be reprising her action role for the next instalment of the action film, for the film bosses want a younger actress to play the role.

The ‘Transformers’ star was associated with the role last month but insists that she won’t be doing it.

“I haven’t been offered that. No one has even spoken to me about doing that yet,” Contactmusic quoted Fox as saying.

Jolie appeals to support the Afghan refugees

Hollywood actress and Goodwill Ambassador for the UN refugee agency, Angelina Jolie, has appealed for greater support to Afghan refugees returning home to enable to withstand the approaching harsh winter.
She pleaded the cause of returning refugees after a three-day visit to the war-torn country, which was aimed at raising awareness on the issue ahead of an international conference on reintegration of refugees.
During her trip, Jolie visited recent returnees in the eastern province of Nangarhar, where almost 20 per cent of all Afghans who returned to the homeland have settled since 2002.
The returnees, who are living on desolate, desert land in tattered tents and makeshift shelters, told her they could not return to their places of origin due to a lack of land and poor security.
Jolie also visited families in Kabul who had returned from Pakistan in 2003 but have still been unable to go back to their home villages. The families have been squatting in public buildings in Kabul for several years due to the lack of available land in Parwan, their province of origin, according to UNHCR.

Angelina Jolie says she cannot wait for her children to grow up and discover that they have 'cool' parents.

The "Tomb Raider" star and partner Brad Pitt are parents to adopted Maddox, seven, Pax, four, Zahara, three, and biological daughter Shiloh, two, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

And Jolie is excited about her young children learning the extent of her and Pitt's fame, reports imdb.com.

Actress Angelina Jolie has admitted taking her seven-year-old son Maddox shopping for knives.

Hollywood star revealed the controversial choice of presents during an interview to the American fashion magazine W , reports dailymail.co.uk.

Jolie said, "We take him to a special shop. We also talk about samurais and the idea about defending someone as good. We talk about everything". She also said that "it is something of a family tradition" as her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, had taken her shopping for a knife when she was just 11.

The 32-year-old actress and mother of six confesses she has since held a fascination for weapons. Angelina adopted her first child Maddox in 2002, then only seven months old, from an orphanage in Cambodia.

Angelina Jolie never wanted to get pregnant

Actress Angelina Jolie has revealed that she never wanted to get pregnant, but it was Brad Pitt who made her change her mind.

The mother of six, who posed for Pitt to shoot photos for the cover story of ‘ W’ fashion magazine while breast-feeding one of her 3-month-old twins, said that it had been a life altering experience.

"I think one of the life changing things that he did, one of many, is that I was absolutely never going to get pregnant,” the New York Daily News quoted her as saying in the November issue of ‘W’ magazine.

She said: “I never felt that it was the right thing to do. Now I wouldn't trade that experience for the world."

The 33-year-old actress added that Brad loved her adopted children like a natural father and it was her love for him that changed her mind.

She said: “[Brad] stopped talking about having other kids in the other way. So I suppose in my heart, I realized that he was happy with them as his children, completely.

“I knew he would never see them as different, and that gave me a certain peace.

“Then I suppose I just looked at him and loved him and just felt open to [getting pregnant]."

Angelina Jolie's "Wanted" ads not wanted in UK

Two movies posters for action flick "Wanted" starring Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy have been banned by the U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority for glamorizing the use of guns and violence and are considered unsuitable for children, media reported Thursday.
A total of 18 people complained about the posters for the film, which were released in the UK in June.

One ad featured Jolie lying on her back across the bonnet of a car, holding a gun next to the text: "We drove through the night at breathtaking speed, destroying everything in our path … welcome to the fraternity. We are a team of assassins, the weapons of fate. Kill one, save a thousand."
Another advert, headlined "6 Weeks ago I was just like you" and with the text "And then I met her ... and my world was changed forever," suggested McAvoy's character's life had been changed for the better since he had become an assassin.　

"We acknowledged most viewers would understand the posters reflected the content of an action film," the ASA said in a statement. "However, we considered that because the ads featured a glamorous actress, action poses, several images of, or related to guns and aspirational text, they could be seen to glamorize the use of guns and violence."

While Universal Pictures UK defended their images, it also said the images had already been taken out of circulation, with no plans to use them again in the future.

Pitt and Jolie ink grand deal for twins' first pics

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have inked a multimillion-pound deal with UK’s Hello! magazine for publishing the first photos of their twins.

The magazine has also brought its publication date forward to Monday August 4 in order to capitalise on the publishing coup.

"This is one of the publishing sensations of the decade - Brad and Angelina are the dream couple of the glossy magazine world and we expect to triple our circulation because of the public''s fascination and interest in the couple and their children," Telegraph quoted a magazine source as saying.

Angelina gave birth to twins - Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline on July 13 at the Lenval hospital in southern France, and the newborns’ first pics are estimated to be worth at least 5.5m pounds (11m dollars).

People in US and Hello! in Britain had also secured exclusive rights of the the couple’s first biological child Shiloh, which was estimated to be worth up to 10 million dollars.

According to Timur Bekmambetov, director of Matrixy thriller " Wanted ,” Angelina commands true respect in Hollywood and there’s no other female star who can upstage the actress.

He said that on the set of the film, Angelina actually ended up mentoring co-star James McAvoy, and helped him get through at numerous occasions.

"Angelina was his mentor, she helped him. She was the Hollywood person, and his journey was basically the journey of his character,” the New York Post quoted him, as saying.

Tom O'Neil, columnist for the film site TheEnvelope.com, said that if directors think Angelina can't hold her own in a lead role, they are seriously mistaken.

"You can't think of another female star who's upstaging her, but it still seems like girls have to take a secondary role,” he said.

He added that despite her growing brood, Angelina always plays as hard as the guys when she gets on the set.

"She seems to be this frail, slender, delicate creature when she's strolling down the red carpet and then becomes the ultimate symbol of female empowerment in these films,” O'Neil said.

Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie is raving about how supportive her partner Brad Pitt is and says the actor makes her feel "sëxy" while being pregnant.

Angelina, who is expecting twins, rubbishes reports of a rift between them and says she firmly believes Pitt is the perfect man to father her children, reports contactmusic.com.
She said in an interview: “I'm very lucky - I'm with a man who makes me feel very sexy pregnant and loves children... He's an extremely hands on dad. Any woman knows that when you're pregnant, if you have a partner who is embracing it (pregnancy) with you, it makes all the difference. I'm very lucky to have him.”

There is further speculation that the couple might soon get married since a chapel was spotted on the grounds of the private estate where they have been residing for the past few months in France.

Has Jolie lost her Oscar?

American actress Angelina Jolie has lost the Oscar trophy she won in 1999, according to reports.

Jolie got the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in Girl Interrupted. The actress had handed over the Oscar to her mother Marcheline Bertrand after the ceremony.

When Bertrand died in January 2007, Jolie recovered it from the Beverly Hills, California hotel her mother lived in, but it has since then gone missing, according to OK magazine.

“Angie doesn’t care about awards. Sure, it’s a great honour to win an Oscar, but Angie thinks herself as more of a humanitarian and mother than an actor,” a source told the publication.
